BRADFORD, PA. –
The company that manufactures the iconic Zippo lighter is getting into the perfume business.
Zippo has entered into a licensing agreement with Mavive to develope a cologne tied to the iconic Zippo lighter.
Mavive launched the fragrance in Italy this past October with sales expected to hit north America in 2012.

Zippo, which is based in Bradford, Pa. is diversifying in other ways as well. With sales of tobacco products and lighters forecast to decline by about 1 to 2 per cent a year over the next decade, Zippo has no choice but to reinvent itself.
Other areas of diversification include an outdoor utility lighter for a backpacker and hunter; hand warmers; and a flexible-neck multipurpose lighter for a gas grill. There are also men’s accessories, such as watches, sunglasses and writing instruments.
And a new fashion line under the Zippo logo just launched at the apparel show in Las Vegas in mid-February.
